Social-Engineering, Scapegoated Nuns: Death in New York, Drugs in Ireland & Smurfs
The posse has picked nuns as soft targets which allow others escape scrutiny.
Gargamel: But I need them! It’s only by capturing the little wretches and extracting their happy blue essence that my magic will finally become... not infallible...
Azrael: Meow!
Gargamel: INVINCIBLE, yes, thank you! I shall become the most powerful wizard in all of the world!
The Smurfs
When you examine heaven and hell in a long line of visual and indeed literary representations, you will most likely find the machines in hell. Our world will more and more resemble that which we considered infernal as we embrace and are subsumed into machines. Techno-wizardry aims to capture the essence of humans through network extraction of the structure of consciousness, measured by behaviour and expression in context. But power and techno-sorcery creates illusions through the machines of its own operation and makes us sick, spiritually.
I have explained how we are being seduced in TechBondAge to a subservient slave. The techno-matrix replaces the Western cult of the Virgin Mary, deliberately. The Oriental dimension elevates a Kali-like aspect and attributes it to technology which becomes the new creator of a new man and woman mixed up. The Empire of Scientism will create a Plantation of Automatons through transhumanism and a Promethean myth of AI leading to actual AI-Govnerveance and AI-posthumanism. Others use different terminology for elements of the same process.
Thus from other authors we might say that La Technique and the Megamachine in the total, technological, administrative, bureaucratic, society and Empire of robots or AI or the One-Dimensional state or cybernetic regime or machine civilisation ends humanity. The technostructure of the algorithmic control-state or controligarchy insidiously undermines humans, making them a resource and then redundant. The hollow men and women without a chest and heart become disembodied, embedded and behavioural units. This transhuman and posthuman process is assisted by Newspeak, semantic capture, the society of the spectacle, surveillance society, and culture of managerialism and narcissism.
I have long argued before our present predicament that the solutions relate to locality, proportionality, actual independence in a reasonable interdependence, preservation of tradition and memory, focus on cooperation rather than competition and more deliberate innovation in a spirit which works with nature and its logic. But all of that is predicated on comprehending the dignity of the human, and their spiritual consciousness horizontally and vertically. This should not put animals and nature down but elevate them as manifestations of beauty. It is striking in the early stories of Irish saints how much animals and nature is central to their view of God. God manifest as the biggest and through the smallest and all creatures great and small in between. There was a sense that the holy people can talk to animals. Animals can help us with their humility and focus. They have an innocence and were seen by some to worship the divine in their existence without the complications of sin.
There are two contexts that struck me recently which involve the interference with, persecution or scapegoating of nuns. This seems to place them at the forefront on the war against the scientocracy. I recall how nuns opposed the mining of gold on Croagh Patrick along with the local community and environmentalists. Next time, as the local community is being re-engineered and the religious attacked - who knows who won’t be there? Two contexts are relevant. I have written about death recently. Many nuns have provided free care to the dying for centuries. Corporations do not like this and a scientocracy will prefer pods to deal with unwelcome people ‘compassionately.’ Once the pesky Catholics are gone, the gear can be shifted. There is a conflict in New York now. Gender ideology is the immediate battle-field but not the whole war. I argue it is the scientocracy and technocracy using ostensibly progressive levers to cause splits and disintegration in systems they wish to dismantle. The century of charity can now be painted in a modern move as a lack of charity. The other is the historic drugs testing on children in state care in Ireland. While a great smokescreen was created about nuns - the legal profession, civil service, medical profession, academic journals and pharmaceutical companies were able to escape significant or sometimes any censure, which they deserved. In the New York and Irish contexts, nuns have encountered the reality of social and reality-engineering.
New York: Nuns and Gender Ideology
A recent press release from the Catholic Benefits Association notes that New York requires nuns serving dying cancer patients to study and use gender ideology. It notes that the Dominican Sisters in Hawthorne New York provide comfort and nursing care for patients with financial need and incurable cancer. At Rosary Hill Home they have provided care for 125 years. The New York State Department of Health sent a series of letters and a training curriculum to align patient care with gender ideology. The General Superior noted that they have taken care of people of all ideologies and faiths but to abide by the mandate would be to violate their Catholic faith. They continue to provide Christian charity and treat people with dignity.
Looking at it from outside, I can assume that the choice about how an individual nun deals with another individual can be tailored in context and must be done with compassion and respect, but doctrinal understanding and praxis cannot be managed by bureaucrats. We are to disregard a century and a quarter of actual social justice and to force the nuns to do what they do not want to do. The consistent and constant erosion of the right to act consistent with religious principle, especially if Catholic, represents an attack on the institutions of Catholicism. Especially when we are dealing with charitable work, perhaps the state could demonstrate its awareness and commitment by providing specialised care in such circumstances for people who are notionally unhappy with the nuns or want care consistent with latest gender ideological thought instead. The provision of parallel support is better than enforced uniformity. Euthanasia is what the scientocracy wants, so specialist care in dying especially if free is a no-no. That is perhaps why the Trotskyist admirer Christopher Hitchens hated Mother Teresa so much for taking care of the dying and sneeringly painted her as a villain while he supported war. Capitalism and communism alike have no problem abolishing care around death. They don’t care. While the local government in the US is seeking to control the circumstances within the nun’s domain for centuries, nuns are being heavily criticised for what is effectively a governance failure to support a state mission elsewhere. Alleged failures are useful deflective measures.
Ireland and the Dog That Didn’t Bark
The modernisation leading to postmodern Ireland is determined not by sensible and coherent indigenous growth, consistent with the needs of the community, but an engineered corporate takeover of Irish resources, potential and sovereignty. That involves displacement of continuity of the historic community through leveraged demographic change. To facilitate this process, both left and right worked together in an anti-homeostatic movement to uproot the existing system. Most of all the focus of change became the Catholic Church. A combined assault on that amplified actual problems and attributed all sociological failures to it. The Catholic Church comes up in the works and words of many of the influential people in the intelligentsia and intellectuals that defined change in Ireland. It worked. From the early modernist movement personified in James Joyce and his Non Serviam to almost all institutional players, the Catholic Church was identified as the cause of all misery in Ireland. It was the core target of the propaganda model. Conveniently, corporate and colonial history has been eclipsed by corporate and neo-colonial commercial vehicles. Now people believe it was the Church behind it all even when they were excluded from participation for centuries and then later provided services for the state often at its request and with inadequate support.
We have been led to believe from the media that Ireland was plagued by a particular nasty cohort of nuns. This is done through de-contextualised framing in terms more appropriate to Stephen King and the horror genre. Reading comments on videos and articles one sees a posse emerging in righteous indignation hurling abuse. Somehow sinister, sadistic women dedicated their lives to persecuting children. In Tuam, they supposedly did some unspeakable things. This unspeakability is handy when the exact evidence is not presented and innuendo and implication reign. We are to ignore a consistent invention, exaggeration and amplification in other countries as well. We are to ignore that the care homes were under the responsibility of the Irish government. We are to ignore the role of the legal profession. We are to ignore the lack of oversight by academic journals. We are to ignore the families and context that caused the need for such homes. We are to ignore historic conditions of rural affairs where land was scarce and succession complicated and contested. We are to ignore the use of care homes by the community as a last resort for dying children with inherently high mortality at the time. We are to ignore the many success stories of abandoned children who were well placed. We are to ignore centuries of colonial abuse that distorted coherent and cohesive communities creating disorder. We are to ignore the propaganda model that the left warned us about but happily ignores when it suits them for ideological and counter-hegemonic strategies. In that model those who pay the piper call the tune. Connections between sponsorship of pro-pharma policies and Big Pharma media sponsorship are crystal clear. That exists all over the West. Hence we can prove in logical, rational and even arguably scientific ways that media is likely to promote a perspective which suits Big Pharma. That means that they will amplify their supposed benefits and attenuate any costs. They will obscure problems and failures and even malfeasance. Communism and corporate capitalism are brothers and both work for the Man against nature.
Recent and consistent attacks on nuns in Ireland are quite convenient for a corporate perspective. Corporations are principalities whose power can be used to protect themselves commercially, when they have may have breached the rights of others. It was those nasty nuns. They want to imprison innocent young women and damage their children. Thank God we have science, rational people, modern people and sound state oversight. Let’s see what they say.
Chapter 34 of the Report of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes (2021) is entitled Vaccine Trials. This Chapter received very little attention relatively. Denis Naughten for example raised the issues in the parliament demanding later that GlaxoSmithKline be involved in compensation, speaking to a largely empty chamber. He talked of human pincushions and noted the availability of this vulnerable group for easy use or misuse. Children suffered. What follow-up studies were there? Human rights groups and survivors want to know about who were subject to the trials but the state failed to satisfy them. They are entitled to pursue justice. The government did introduce a compensation scheme late, but the company did not want to contribute. Legal cases were initiated.
Why is it that major corporations do not receive the same scrutiny? Is there any connection between the pro-Big Pharma politico-legal culture in the state, politics, media and the ostensible ignoring of this?
“The Commission has identified a total of 13 vaccine trials which took place in the period covered by the Commission’s remit 1922-1998; seven of these were conducted in the institutions under investigation and were conducted in the period 1934-1973. There is a further suspected trial in 1965 but it has not been confirmed.”
Note the modern state derives from the Constitution of 1937, despite limited independence from 1922. In relation to the companies involved we were told that,
“GlaxoSmithKline provided the Commission with extensive documentation about vaccine trials and clinical trials conducted in children’s residential institutions in Ireland in the period 1930 to 1973. These trials all involved either the Wellcome Foundation or Glaxo Laboratories. These companies are today part of the same pharmaceutical corporation - GlaxoSmithKline - but were separate commercial entities when the trials described here were being conducted. The archives of both companies, although now merged, evolved separately. The Wellcome Foundation retained extensive documentation while Glaxo Laboratories’s available documentation was quite sparse. Most of the documentation quoted below, particularly the protocols for the tests and the correspondence between the companies and the researchers, came from the GlaxoSmithKline archives.”
What we see in the Chapter is a consistent story of vaccine trials without evidence of consent or adherence to legal standards and apparently without approval of the nuns or religious. The companies seemed to have even operated when consent was not given. Consent was not evidenced for academic publication of research from the Irish context. Rather a no-man’s land of insufficient regulation and procedures seem to have allowed the state apparatus interact with the university sector and pharmaceutical companies through medical operatives. It is difficult to identify the exact damage but impossible to ignore the lack of consent and transparency. Yet this is not really a problem for many readers. Rather the nuns got the blame. The right and left opponents of the Church could shout over their tear-stained reports about progress, rationality, modernity and the new Ireland which now supposedly respected women, whilst blaming other women and ignoring corporate malfeasance from professional exemplars of the system they initiate. Such a critique would have been very inopportune at a time of a contemporaneous dispute and discourse about experimental vaccines. The nuns have been hounded out and Big Pharma is bigger. It might be called Monster Pharma now, especially as corporate milieus seem to make monsters of others, whilst removing spiritual competition for psycho-pharmaceutical solutions. Just as Native Americans are suing for experiments conducted in state homes in Canada, we see that science (as more often than not) has got off scot-free hitherto. Blame the nuns. It usually works. Especially when Big Pharma is a massive part of Irish exports. If the nuns were running such a bad ship - how many of the medical researchers reported them?
Sick Cohorts to Sick Spirits
No physical, physiological, pharmaceutical, practical or prosthetic cure can heal a spirit become sick. Can a spirit become sick? Yes it can. But a society which denies the spirit for measurable behaviours in contested models of social care dependent on vested interests and ideological perspectives can produce a sickness that erodes the souls within the community. When we witness a system which is exploitative or capable of acting immorally, especially in relation to the most vulnerable, we should be concerned. When the scapegoat for state, health and societal failures is made out of a community who were dedicated to helping the marginalised, the sickness becomes something like a pathology. Romano Guardini put it so in The End of the World.
“Can, then, the spirit sicken? Not only its physiological organs of brain and nervous system, not only on the psychological level of sense-activity, the imaginative processes, and so forth, but the spirit itself qua spirit? On what does its health depend? First Plato and later in the fullness of Revelation St. Augustine made this clear: the health of the spirit depends on its relation to truth, to the good and the holy. The spirit thrives on knowledge, justice, love, adoration - not allegorically, but literally. What happens when man’s relation to these is destroyed? Then the spirit sickens. Not as soon as it errs or lies or is guilty of an injustice; it is difficult to say just how many such “exposures” to disease the spirit can withstand before it succumbs to that inner blindness, that destruction of all proficiency, which are the symptoms of spiritual decline. However, this much is certain: once truth as such loses its significance; once success usurps the place of justice and goodness; once the holy is no longer perceived or even missed, the spirit is stricken indeed. What then occurs is no longer a matter for psychology; then no therapeutical measures help; the only thing that can save is conversion, metanoia.”
The metanoia involves a turning to the divine. Yet the corporate powers that emerged from imperialism and colonialism have brilliantly painted those who sought to provide a band-aid as the cause of problems they were creating and contributing to. We are also blinded by retreat into an illusion of our own isolation from the universe and creation. That modernist and postmodernist fragmentation and consequent dislocation of the human is assisted by active forces wanting to make the new world in its image. People say it is too hard to understand. Let me make an analogy.
The Smurfs and Azrael
We are well on the way to a scientocracy or technocracy. The penultimate stage involves a dispiriting of the human. It reminds me of Gargamel trying to extract the blue juice from the Smurfs. Once the human is dispirited through extraction and exteriorisation, they remain then a posthuman clump of cells that behave and can be conditioned and re-engineered. Now we are spiritually sick because we live in a poisonous milieu where the gifts of the spirit cannot thrive. The blue juice symbolises an essence. Existentialism denied the essence of humans as Edith Stein makes clear. The process of digital convergence means every system can be united in One. People are missing the exact problem of AI that I have explained. Digitisation enables different systems to interact and would-be rulers are working so this can operate from central nodes down to the individual cellular level with nano-tech and pico-tech in the future. All of your interactions with the world will be managed by unified technological systems. Any effort to provide charity will be eradicated.
What you consume, what you waste, what electricity you use, how you use it, what you write, what you think, where you walk, when you walk, why you walk, how you travel, when you travel, why you travel, when you must stay at home, when you must work from home, where you live, who you live with, what you eat, when you eat, why you eat the way you do, what type of home you have, what you do in your home, what medicines you use, what medicines you must use, how you spend your time, how you socialise, who you socialise with, how you earn a living, how you spend your digital tokens, how you are rated by the system, what political and governmental perspectives you have, what your philosophical ideas are, what religions or religious practices you may engage in and other decisions are all potentially and probably subject to an interconnected comprehensive converged network which initially operates through mobile and fixed stations pending its entering onto and into the human body and mind. Thus the extended phenotype exteriorises the operational and behavioural essence of your structure to manage it away by incorporation. The slave, zombie, drone, shell human will find it virtually impossible to exercise free will in a realised virtual reality of digitised totalitarianism. Gargamel is a nice symbol of the spirit behind the tech-bro New World.
The scientocracy in the work of C.S. Lewis and feared by Mumford, Ellul, Charbonneau, Bernanos and anticipated by Illich and Stern must undermine the essential structure of the existing status quo with language it illegitimately borrows from them. It is a conceptual leveraged buy-out that aims to destroy the healthy community and ecology of empathy for an utterly dependent total-tech system. I’m with the Smurfs.
Gargamel’s cat is Azrael. Azrael appears in Islam and in phonetic equivalents elsewhere. In a number of traditions Azrael is the Angel of Death, though often not in a dark way. Azrael has been appropriated by many modern authors and dislodged from traditional context. Azrael as a threshold figure that solemnly escorts over the boundary may however be a threatening figure to those who know what their deeds mean for them. I’ll stick with Saint Michael as the threshold figure. But note that occultists seek to draw on the power of angels they know exist whilst denying that knowledge in the light. Apparent secularists and atheists create sinister sense around traditional figures that are revealing at the boundary. There is a feeling that this is not meant to be, but somehow may be and must therefore be transmuted like everything else. Contemporary corporate communist or BlackRock Bolshevist society cultivates a sick spirit whilst claiming to solve sickness. It deals with death by wanting to circumvent and control it. It deals with the afterlife by denying and ridiculing it. It deals with charity by wanting to compromise and confuse it. It deals with responsibility by avoiding and excluding it whilst preparing a scapegoat to sacrifice. It deals with the sacrifice of Christ for life by offering our life and essence to their gods unknown and techno-dominatrix increasingly showing their face. The scapegoating of nuns is a real bonus for the angels of death that masquerade as saviours. Large corporations can make profits and destroy lives and make the citizen bear the cost.
